Recently, Shenyang branch of United Overseas Bank Ltd. (UOB), the largest international bank of Singapore formally opened. By far, there have been 9 foreign banks entering Shenyang. At present, Shenyang has become the area with the fastest speed and best growth momentum of introducing foreign banks in the northeastern China. Since the state approved the opening-up of Shenyang financial industry in 2004, Shenyang Municipality strengthened the forces of attracting business and investment from foreign banks. Within three years, foreign banks have emerged and there were 9 banks settled in Shenyang, such as Shenyang representative office of Public Bank (Hong Kong), Shenyang representative office of Japanese Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Shenyang representative office of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd., Shenyang representative office of Japanese Hokkaido Bank, Shenyang branch of South Korean Hana Bank, Shenyang branch of South Korean Banks of Small and Middle Corporations, Shenyang branch of UOB, Shenyang branch of Bank of East Asia (China) Co., Ltd, and Shenyang branch of HSBC Bank (China) Co., Ltd (under preparation). The influx of foreign banks brought advanced operation ideas, management experiences and more abundant financial products to Shenyang, which made the structure of Shenyang financial market more reasonable and the function more complete and also provided Shenyang a much better environment for business and investment solicitation.
