W.W. Grainger Inc, a distributor of building maintenance and repair supplies, plans to expand in China's Yangtze River Delta region by adding more customer service outlets to support its distribution center in Shanghai's Minhang District.

The US firm is opening up to seven service outlets in Shanghai and nearby cities, including Wuxi in Jiangsu Province, to allow customers to order products that will be distributed from its Minhang center, which was opened last year.

Steve Yin, vice president of Grainger China, said sales from the Minhang center have been growing 30 percent to 40 percent monthly since operations began. He said there are about 80,000 potential industrial customers in the Yangtze region.

The company will look for opportunities in other areas in China later, according to Bonnie McIntyre, general manager for Grainger China.
