China's vice premier Zeng Peiyan has urged concerned departments to intensify macro-control of the country's mineral resources to maintain the mining industry's sustainable and healthy development.
Zeng made the remarks on Tuesday when addressing a symposium on China's national mineral resources plan.
He said that making and implementing the plan is key to mineral resources exploitation and relevant departments must improve the supervision over the implementation of the plan.
The mineral resources plan is an essential component of China's national plan and it will guide the exploration, exploitation and preservation of the country's mineral resources, Zeng said.
The first round of the national mineral resources plan was approved by the State Council in April 2001. China requires more mineral resources than ever before as the country's economy continues its rapid development.
