The retail sales of consumer goods in China reached 870.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.6 percent, according to statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBSC) on June 13.

Among different regions, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas totaled 594.7 billion yuan, up 22.3 percent over the same period of the previous year. Consumer goods retail sales at and below the county level achieved 275.7 billion yuan, up by 20.1 percent.

Statistics also show that retail sales have been maintaining an increase of over 20 percent this year, which indicates that overall growth is relatively stable considering the 7 to 8 percent hike in CPI during the same period.
